A Delhi-bound Air India flight, with 122 passengers on board, has made an emergency landing in Pakistan’s Nawabshah airport because of a technical problem.

The Air India Airbus A-319 from Abu Dhabi made an emergency landing in Pakistan's Sindh province early this morning (3am IST) after its three hydraulic systems failed.

All the passenger and the six crew members were safe. A special relief plane, which was sent to bring the stranded passengers to Delhi, has landed in the Indian capital around 4pm IST this afternoon (11.30am BST).

Air India has also sent eight engineers to repair the faulty aircraft.

Earlier this month, pilots of the national carrier said they will call off their 58-day strike with immediate effect.

Air India pilots went on a strike to protest against the management’s decision to sack 101 pilots as well as over training to fly Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The strike was leading to a revenue loss of Rs 500 crores to the airline company.

On September 8, 2012, Air India took the delivery of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner becoming the first Indian airline to do so. The national carrier has ordered for 27 787 Dreamliner planes that will replace old energy-inefficient flights currently in use.
