Sakshi beat Kyrgyzstan's Aisuluu Tynybekova in a thrilling match for a score of 8-5. Sakshi Malik is the first Indian to put India on the medal table in Rio 2016 Olympics making India proud. Sakshi Malik's victory made India jubilant with her name trending on Twitter and Bollywood celebs, politicians and influential sports-stars congratulating her for victory. Haryana government is planning to honour her with a 2.05-crore-rupees cash prize. "Sakshi Malik will inspire several sportspersons in the years to come," tweeted PM Narendra Modi.
India's hopes for a gold medal rested on PV Sindhu after she entered badminton final on Thursday after defeating Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in semi finals. Sindhu won 21-19, 21-10 against Nozomi in just 49 minutes. Sindhu became the first Indian badminton player to enter Olympics finals. On Friday, 21-year-old Sindhu won a silver medal following a thrilling match against Spain's Carolina Marin. Her victory has made India jubilant with PV Sindhu trending on Twitter.
