India lost to Great Britain (1-3) in men’s hockey in the inaugural match of the Tri Nations invitational tournament ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

GB’s men’s hockey team secured a comfortable win against India, the eight-time Olympic hockey champions in the second half of the tournament in Santander, Spain, on Saturday.

The Indian team was off to a great start and secured its first goal (by Shivendra Singh) within the first five minutes of the game but was not able to hold its lead.

The Great Britain team played catch up after conceding the first goal. But the first levelling goal by James Tindall and two more goals in the second-half - by Ashley Jackson and Harry Martin helped it win the game.

On Monday, the Great Britain team will play Spain in their second game of the Tri Nations tournament. Spain and Great Britain are both in the same pool - Pool A - at the Olympic Games. India will play in Pool B in London. India will play its next match against Spain on Wednesday, July 18.
