The Indian under-19 cricket team won its third ICC U-19 World Cup title today after beating Australia in the final by six wickets. Captain Unmukt Chand scored an unbeaten 111 to seal the victory.

The final Under-19 World Cup match was played at Tony Ireland stadium, Townsville Australia on Sunday, August 26.

This is the third time India’s U-19 team won the World Cup. Previously, it had lifted the Cup in 2000 and 2008.

Chand’s unbeaten century in partnership with Smit Patel -- who scored an unbeaten 62 runs -- helped India win the finals comfortably. Together, Chand and Patel scored130 runs in their unbroken partnership to take India’s total to 227 with six wickets and 14 balls to spare.

Chand was declared Man of the Match in the India-Australia U-19 World Cup finals.
