In pics: London 2012 Paralympics Opening Ceremony, Indian contingent
London 2012 Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony was titled Enightenment and showcased the achievements of British disabled artists and performers.

24-year old Indian athlete Girisha Hosanagara Nagarajegowda (HN Girisha) has won a silver medal in the high jump event at London 2012 Paralympics.
The event started with Professor Hawking – the British astrophysicist – talking about the wonders of science including the Big bang Theory and Higgs Boson God particle. Following this, a giant umbrella descended on to the Olympic Stadium amid fireworks as volunteers, both disabled and able-bodied, carrying the umbrella -- that most British of institutions.
The event also featured a parade of athletes from each of the competing nations including India and host nation GB, before the cauldron was lit by the Paralympic flame, marking the official start of the 14th Paralympic Games.
Athlete Jagbir Singh was the Indian flag-bearer for the contingent parade at the Paralympics opening ceremony.
