Leander Paes and his men’s doubles partner Radek Stepanek have qualified for the semi-finals at this year’s Wilmbedon championship tournament.

Rohan Bopanna and partner Eduoard Roger-Vasselin have also entered the semis.

But Mahesh Bhupathi and his Austrian partner Julian Knowle crashed out of the tennis tournament after losing to Bob and Mike Bryan from the US in three straight sets.

Fourth seeded Paes and his Czech partner Stepanek beat eleventh-seeded Frenchman Julian Benneteau and his Serbian partner Nenad Zimonjic while Bopanna and Roger-Vasselin beat sixth-seeded Canadian Daniel Nestor and partner Robert Lindstedt of Sweden.

Paes and Stepanek will now face the winners of the men’s doubles quarter final match between Ivan Dodig from Croatia and Marcelo Melo from Brazil and American James Blake and Austrian Jurgen Melzer.

Last year, Paes and his mixed doubles partner Elena Vesnina entered Wimbledon finals but narrowly lost out Americans Mike Bryan and Lisa Raymond.

Paes is India’s highest Grand Slam title winner with 13 trophies, six of which are for mixed doubles.

Meanwhile, Bopanna will be playing his first semis at Wimbledon this year. Bopanna and Roger-Vasselin will be playing the Bryan twins in their bid to enter the finals.
