India’s hopes for Wimbledon Championship 2012 in men’s doubles ended on Tuesday as Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek pair as well as Mahesh Bhupathi - Rohan Bopanna duo were defeated in their respective matches.

Seeded fourth, Paes and his Czech partner Stepanek lost to Brazilian Marcelo Melo and Croatia's Ivan Dodig at 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-7 (2-6), 8-6.

Paes-Stepanek’s third round with Melo-Dodig was carried over to Tuesday as rain interrupted their match on Monday.

Meanwhile, seeded seventh, Bhupathi-Bopanna lost in their second round to Russia's Mikhail Elgin and Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin 5-7, 6-7 (4-7), 3-6. The weather affected their match too.

But there is still hope in the mixed doubles as Paes and his Russian partner charge ahead to the third round. A win in the third round against Australian duo will help Paes-Vesnina pair to compete against American second seeds in the finals of the Wimbledon mixed doubles championship match.
