Deepika Padukone's Mastani look revealed! Deepika mesmerizes in Bajirao Mastani song video
The song features Mastani's entry into Bajirao's courtroom to play a musical instrument, sing and entertain Peshwa Bajirao (Ranveer Singh). She is seen donning an opulent gold embroidered outfit, a traditional hat fascinator and a chunky nose-ring. Showcasing Mastani's simplicity and demure personality, she is seen in minimal makeup and her long hair let loose in long wavy curls. She is also seen wearing a lot of ornaments and portrays the demure yet confident and determined personality of the historic character Mastani.
The song is sung by Shreya Ghoshal who adds to the mesmerizing character of Mastani.
Deepika Padukone (Mastani's) entry into Bajirao's courtroom opens with traditional Marathi chorus and then she takes over with her song and performance to impress and entertain the Peshwa. Bajirao is seen sitting with a stoic demeanour as he watches Mastani. The song captures the tense chemistry between Bajirao and Mastani played by rumoured real-life lovers Deepika and Ranveer. The song also shows Bajirao's first wife Kashibai viewing Mastani's performance.
The actress is currently busy promoting Bajirao Mastani in Jaipur. While releasing the first glimpse of Mastani on her official Twitter account, the actress said: "Kehte hain yeh Deewani, Mastani ho gayi" while sharing the link of the Deewani Mastani song video.
Ranveer and Deepika play the title characters of Bajirao – a Marathi warrior and the Maratha Peshwa in 1720s and Mastani – his second wife who is said to have been both extremely beautiful and extremely courageous in Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani film. Mastani was a Muslim courtesan while Priyanka Chopra's character Kashibai is Bajirao's first wife.
The film is slated to release in December 2015 and is termed as SLB's pet project in making after almost 12 years of him conceptualising the film.
