The Bachchans raised the money through the sale of paintings and a book unveiled at a special exhibition by Amitabh Bachchan on his 70th birthday in October 2012. The sum of 25-lakh rupees was donated to the charity organisation Plan India and will be used for their Girl Child Campaign.
Plan India works for the development of children deprived of fundamental needs such as education and other social needs.
On Amitabh’s 70th birthday, the star released a book “B70” containing 70 paintings by prominent artists of India on what they think of and how they interpret Amitabh Bachchan.
On Saturday, February 9, the Bachchan family was seen together sharing laughter at the event and were all dressed in white with senior Bachchan wrapping a shawl around his shoulder. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan were both wearing white salwar kameez with minimal makeup while Abhishek was wearing white kurta.
