Pictures: Bollywood hearthrob Shahid Kapoor weds Mira Rajput
The wedding ceremony lasted for 90 minutes and was held at a farmhouse in Rajoukri near Gurgaon, close to Mira's hometown Delhi.
The bride looked absolutely stunning in a pale pink embellished lehenga designed by Anamika Khanna while Shahid looked dapper in a cream and gold embroidered sherwani designed by Kunal Rawal. 19-year-old Delhi student Mira kept her jewellery and make up simple and elegant.
Shahid, who has been linked to several high profile Bollywood stars including Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Vidya Balan, met his soulmate Mira through a religious satsang group. The couple started dating but kept a very low profile until Shahid revealed in March that he is planning to wed Mira in July.
Although the press was not allowed in the intimate wedding ceremony, the newlyweds made their first official appearance together for the press at the Trident Hotel in Gurgaon.
The bride looked at ease despite being new to the paparazzi and smiled calmly through the photo-op. Shahid also uploaded a wedding picture on his official Twitter account under the tagline "hitched".
The newlywed couple looked gorgeous together when they hosted their wedding reception for their Bollywood celeb friends in Mumbai as the main wedding was in Mira's hometown Delhi. While Shahid looked dapper in a tuxedo, Mira looked simple but elegant in a sequined crop top and a flowing blue and silver lehenga.
Shahid Kapoor, 13 years senior to Mira, was last seen in the critically acclaimed film Haider, a Bollywood adaptation of William Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet. Shahid won the best actor award for his title role in the film at the IIFA 2015 awards. He described Haider as his toughest character of his career. Shahid will next be seen in the upcoming film Shandaar also starring Alia Bhatt.
