Ganpati 2016: UK Indians, NRIs celebrate Ganeshotsav in true tradition from September 5th to 15th

Like every year, Indians settled in London and other parts of the UK are prepping in full swing to welcome Lord Ganesha in true Indian style and spirit.
Hounslow Ganeshotsav Mandal (HGM London 2016)
Like every year, this year too Hounslow Ganeshotsav Mandal hosted its spirited, extravagant and enthusiastic Ganpati Festival celebrations.
In its 9th year now, HGM London’s 2016 Ganeshotsav festivities include setting up of a majestic 4-feet tall Ganesha Murti especially flown in from Mumbai and designed by artist Prashant Mayekar. Every year, HGM’s Ganesha Murtis are about 2.5-feet tall making this year even more special with a magnanimous idol sthapana.
HGM’s Ganeshotsav celebrations were held at Hounslow’s Laxminarayan Temple on 5th and 6th of September. the Grand visarjan (Immersion) included procession of Bappa's murti and dhol (Nashik Dhol) and the venue of immersion was Tideway Scullers School, Chiswick Bridge, Dukes Meadow.
The celebrations featured talented Indian origin children show off their skills and talents through cultural programmes and events. HGM is honouring the rising stars with prizes and certificates on September 11th at ASDA Hounslow at 1pm BST.
Maharashtra Mandal London (MML)
London-based association Maharashtra Mandal London (MML) will host Ganeshotsav festivities for full 10 days starting from September 5th. It begins with Ganpati Pratisthapana and pooja followed by aarti on day 1. It is followed by Ganpati darshan and aartis until 14th September. Then, on Thursday, September 15th, Visarjan Day, MML’s Ganeshotsav will end with Grand Miravnook with Dhol Tasha around the Mandal, Ganesh aarti and Visarjan at the venue.

Sai Dham Nottingham UK
Sai Dham (Nottingham) UK is celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi for 10 days from Monday, 5th September. It will kick off the celebrations at 8am in the morning with Ganesha Murti Sthapana followed by Ganesh Aarti. For all 10 days, the organization will be doing daily aarti in the morning and evening and serve light dinner (Anand Bhoj) after the evening aarti. The celebrations at Sai Dham Nottingham includes cultural and entertainment events including Kavi Sammelan on 9th September in the evening; Games, clay modelling, drawing and satyanarayan katha on 10th September; traditional day, kids’ quiz show, talent show and antakshari on Sunday, September 11th. Its 2016 Ganesh Utsav celebrations will end on September 15th with the Murti Visarjan.

Slough Mitra Mandal (SMM)
Slough Mitra Mandal, another popular Maharashtrian association, is hosting its Ganesh Chaturthi festivities between Sunday, September 4th and Friday, September 9th at Slough Hindu temple. It begins with a grand Ganpati arrival procession. Ganpati sthapana and poojas and aartis will begin from September 5th. The celebrations include cultural stage activities, iconic games such as antakshari and Mahaprasad.

Maharashtra Mandal Scotland
Maharashtra Mandal Scotland (MM Scotland) celebrates fifth year of its Ganesh Utsav in Glasgow. The Maharashtrian community association welcomes everyone to witness an entertaining celebration of Ganapati in its most unique style featuring traditional Indian food and entertainment in the form of Hindi & Marathi songs with its own music band.
Shree Ganapathy Temple Wimbledon
SW19’s popular Ganapathy Temple will perform Vinayaga Chaturthi Pooja on September 5th 2016 and invites everyone interested for the pooja.
