Ten fashion must-haves this summer
Wear your whites! Nothing screams summer more than colour white. How about a pair of straight-cut trousers in crisp white? Try beige or any pastel coloured linen tops for a smart casual look. Or even a plain white cotton dress!
Get your short kurtis out! If your wardrobe is full of cotton/khadi and lucknowi kurtis and you wonder when you could wear them. Now is the time! Team these colourful and smart kurtis with cropped trousers and open sandals for a chic look.
Mesmerise with smoky eyes! It takes only a fiver to make your eyes dance like that of the Bollywood stars. Have dramatic eyes with a Kohl-pencil and keep the rest of your look natural for a beautiful result. Remember Deepika Padukone’s new look in upcoming film Cocktail?

Leggings, leggings, leggings! Jeans is so winter-y. Why not ditch the jeans for some cool, ankle-length leggings? Go for darker shades and team them up with long cotton shirts for a perfect summer look.
Do them bangles! They are very Indian but they look ultra-chic when teamed with any of your summer wear. Go for the bright ones, noisy ones, thin ones, or thick, wooden ones and choose from metal, plastic, glass bangles for the ethnic but smart look.
Don’t be afraid of colours! Indian clothes are colourful. Keep away the greys, blacks and browns for a wet and windy wintry night and wear bright colours – yellow, orange, red, pink, teal for a yummy, fruity look.
Scarves and big bags! Give a new life to your dusty fusty dupatta by wrapping it loosely around your neck to add a bit of colour and character to your summer avatar. Carry big, cloth or jute bags for a trendy feel.
Go sexy with diaphanous and see-through tops! They are all over the place. Try smart, see-through tops with your best inner things for a very London summer look.
Rule with fringes and long, straight hair! Short cropped hair is nice and easy, but shoulder-length hair gives you a lot to play and experiment with. Get a new look with some fresh fringes and straighten the rest of your dark locks for a smoking hot look this summer.
Don’t forget your brolly, sunscreen, shades or hats! It’s the season of hats. Don’t go overboard with Ascot-y hats, but choose an off-white or cream sensible hat that goes with what’s in your wardrobe, so you stay protected from the Sun’s harmful UV. It’s the year of Queen’s diamond jubilee and London Olympics, so set the trend with a red-white-blue brolly. You already know about the sunscreen and shades bit – they make you look glamorous.
But, as always it is the attitude that matters – bring on that cheerful smile, eat healthy and drink lots of water. Enjoy the summer in Bollywood-style Ms Sunshine!
