Pictures of Bollywood first couple Aishwarya Rai Bachchan & Abhishek Bachchan at Cannes 2014 film festival's amfAR gala night, "Cinema against AIDS"
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wore a glittering floor length gown from the Armani Privé Fall 2013 collection while actor Abhishek Bachchan wore a full black Manish Malhotra Sherwani for the red carpet.
“Tonight to the 21st annual Cinema against AIDS event with the Mrs. to support amfAR’s mission to find a cure for HIV,” said Abhishek Bachchan on Twitter as he shared a couple of pictures of the couple with his fans.
The Bollywood royalty looked very much in love at the event where they jointly hosted the gala evening. “I make her look good!! Then again… anybody compared to me will look good!” said Abhishek in a tongue-in-cheek style tweet.
The amfAR Gala is an annual event held every year during the Cannes film festival since 1993. This year’s gala night was attended by other celebs Sharon Stone, Justin Bieber, John Travolta. Founded in 1985, amfAR is a foundation aiming to ending the global AIDS epidemic through research initiatives.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who has been attending the film festival for more than a decade now as a L’Oreal ambassador, was praised by the Indian media and the fashion police for her choice of outfits. This year, the former Miss World ditched Indian traditional outfit for a series of contemporary ball gowns.
For her first red carpet appearance this year, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan chose a fish-tail floor length shimmery gold gown designed by Roberto Cavalli. The actress added more glamour to her look with a bright red lip colour.
"Almost 52 hours without sleep! Eyes shutting… and the Mrs. Shows up looking like this!! Ok.. Eyes wide open now!" Abhishek said in praise of Ash.
