Apple iPhone 5 is taller, slimmer and supports 4G – available in the UK, not in India yet
The iPhone 5 is Apple’s first phone capable of supporting 4G which will be available in four UK cities including London, Bristol, Birmingham and Cardiff.
IPhone 5 is the “thinnest smartphone in the world,” according to the smartphone vendor.
The iPhone 5 comes with a 7.6 mm anodised aluminium body and is 18% thinner and weighs 20% lighter than iPhone 4S. It includes 200 new features and at its core is Apple’s A-6 chip which will deliver faster wireless capability and fast performance.
Apple has designed iPhone 5 with a taller, not a wider screen.
Among the new features are – a 4-inch Retina display that delivers more pixels than iPhone 4S, a new maps app which provides a turn-by-turn navigation and a fly-over view, Facebook integration, and an improved version of Siri with additional languages. It also has a dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi support for a wireless experience of up to 150 Mbps (based on theoretical speed).
The new iOS also offers a feature called "Passbook" which will help users store and manage their digital coupons, vouvhers and tickets.
IPhone 5 supports 4G wireless standards including LTE (which will be the only standard available in the UK now) and DC-HSDPA. To support the latest LTE standard, Apple has fitted a single-radio LTE tool in the phone that provides faster speed.

It also includes CPU and graphics performance that is two times faster than iPhone 4 and includes an 8 megapixel camera, the company added. Aiming to deliver a good digital experience, the new version of the iPhone has features such as video face detection for up to 10 faces and the ability to take still photos while recording.
The iPhone 5 is available in white & silver or black & slate and can be purchased through UK chains including Everything Everywhere, Orange, O2, T-Mobile, Vodafone, 3 and select Apple Authorised Resellers.
It is simultaneously being made available across the UK, the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore next week. It will roll out worldwide to 22 more countries on September 28 but its availability in India is not yet scheduled.
