A.R. Rahman to compose a Punjabi track for Olympics Opening Ceremony
Rahman revealed on his Facebook page today that the track will be a Punjabi song celebrating Indian influence in the UK.
“It's a part of a medley in the Olympics opening ceremony, according to Danny Boyle's creative wishes!” Rahman said on his Facebook page on Saturday, June 30.
The London 2012 Games Opening Ceremony is titled “Isles of Wonder”. The worldwide broadcast will commence at 9pm on July 27, 2012.
A total of 15,000 performers will take part in the Olympic and Paralympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies watched by an estimated audience of four billion.
Boyle and Rahman have previously teamed up for the 2008 multi-award winner British drama film Slumdog Millionaire. Rahman won the 2009 Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score for the film and won the Oscar for the song Jai Ho.
