Manipuri boxing champion Mary Kom who is celebrating her success at London 2012 Olympics has become the subject of a potential Bollywood project.

29-year-old Kom, who won a bronze medal in the women’s boxing championship competition at London Olympics, was in Mumbai to meet director Sanjay Leela Bhansali who is reportedly planning his next Bollywood project on Kom’s life.

Kom who did Manipur proud and increased its prominence to India is hoping that the film will further help inspire more people from Manipur state to enter sports.

Bhansali’s latest production Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi released on Friday, August 24. But the rom-com starring Boman Irani and Farah Khan received lackluster response from the audience which still preferred blockbuster Ek Tha Tiger which released on August 15. Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi collections from the first weekend stood at about 6-crore rupees.
